Design

Jar

Blendtec Q series 825 reviewThis blender comes with Blendtec’s patented Wildside+ jar that has a fifth side for more consistent blending results. The extra-wide base and large capacity allows for more efficient blending and shorter customer wait times. It has a total capacity of 90 ounces.

The WildSide+ jar is made of robust and lightweight BPA free Eastman Tritan copolyester. It’s is easy to lift and pour which helps reduce spilling. It has 3 corners for easy pouring at different angles. The jar markings are written in both ounces and milliliters and are easy to read.

Blade

The stainless-steel blade is integrated into the jar. Blendtec uses a patented blunt blade design so you don’t have to worry about it becoming dull over time or cutting users.

Blendtec states that this blade is 80% thicker and ten times stronger than its counterparts ensuring efficient and fast blending.

Size

This blender’s size is typical for the horsepower it delivers with dimensions of 9.0” deep x 9.0” wide x 18.7” tall. The square design gives it stability so it doesn’t move while blending and is stable for hands free use in a high volume setting. Also, it is compatible to be put in-counter to save space. Weight is 16.8 pounds.

It conforms to all commercial safety standards and NSF requirements.

Noise

This blender is designed for “front of house” where is it visible to customers. Noise is a big concern with business owners as high speed blenders are loud. The Connoisseur sound dampening enclosure can dampen noise by up 50% so customers and employees can still have a conversation.

Performance

The 3.8 peak horsepower motor is plenty of power for quick blending. Many blenders can overheat and trip their internal circuit breaker which means you can’t use the blender until it cools down. The Connoisseur 825 is designed for high volume businesses and can blend over 150 blends per day without needing downtime for cooling.

The Connoisseur 825 blender has a robust 3.8 HP motor with wattage usage ranging from 1500-3000 watts. NOTE – Peak Horsepower is not sustained throughout the entire blending cycle and it is just for the initial boost in torque needed to mix the raw ingredients.

It can easily puree any raw or frozen ingredients including ice. It can blend nut butters, soups, sauces and other food prep tasks.

This model comes standard as a 120 volt plugin but can be configured by Blendtec for 220 volt if required.

Controls

Based on years of customer feedback the Connoisseur 825 is built for ease of use with simple preset blending programs that only requires minimal employee training.

You just touch the preset blending cycle button on top and it shuts offs automatically when the cycle is done.

It has room for 30 built-in preprogrammed cycles, allowing you to tailor the blender to your favorite recipes and giving them the ideal consistency. In 2018 Blendtec added a USB port in the front for added control over programming where you can create custom or use included blend cycles via Blendtec’s Blend Wizard online tool.

The blender will shutoff automatically when the programmed cycle completes. There’s also a manual pulse option, with which you can follow your own recipe or change another.

Connoisseur 825 Review

As the mid-level model in Blendtec’s drink blender lineup, the 825 has a lot to offer for performance and features.

Positives :

  • Amazing power.
  • Excellent quality design for high-volume drink blending.
  • Programmable one-touch controls improves efficiency and requires very little employee training.
  • Dull blade design and impact-resistant jar are safe to use without concern for employee safety.
  • Noise dampening for front of house use.
  • Won’t overheat which eliminates blender downtime.
  • Meets NSF standards for easy cleaning.

Negatives :

  • Doesn’t have a tamper which is useful to have for really thick recipes.
  • Wildside jar isn’t ideal for very small blending jobs.
  • Expensive

Final Thoughts

Overall the Blendtec Connoisseur 825 is a solid drink blender that offers plenty of performance with many of the most desired features like programmable controls and noise dampening.

The design allows for large capacity and easy lifting and pouring. It is a good choice if you want the most powerful motor that Blendtec offers but don’t need the higher volume and additional noise dampening of the Stealth blenders.

How does it compare to the other Blendtec models ?

Blendtec 825 vs Stealth vs EZ 600 Comparison

Blendtec Connoisseur 825 is Blendtec’s mid-level “front of the house” business model. Blendtec’s Stealth series(models 885 and 895) are an upgrade and the the EZ600 is the downgrade compared to the 825.

All of these models are designed for “front of house”. Here is how they compare:

Blendtec 825 vs 895 bender

The Blendtec 895 Nitro Stealth blender is an upgrade to the Connoisseur 825 with more features and is designed to blend over 200+ drinks a day.

The 895 is also referred to as the “Stealth” blender as it uses Blendtec’s more advanced noise dampening design that can dampen noise by 80% compared to 825’s 50% noise dampening.

Both blenders use the same motor but the biggest selling feature of the 895 is the Nitro blending system which allows you to blend in the single serve cup that you give to customers. This allows for no ingredient waste and no blending jar clean up.

Both models come with a 3 year manufacturer warranty.

Blendtec 825 vs 885 blender

The Blendtec 885 is the same blender as the 895 mentioned above but the 885 does not work with the single-serve Nitro Blending system.

In comparison to the 825 Connoisseur, the 885 Stealth has the same motor but is designed to blend 200+ drinks compared to the 825’s 150 drinks a day. Also the Stealth 885 is quieter than the 825.

Both models comes with a 3 year manufacturer warranty.

Blendtec 825 vs EZ600 blender

The EZ600 is Blendtec’s entry level model designed for blending 60 drinks a day versus 825’s 150+ drinks a day. The EZ600 does not have a sound dampening enclosure like the 825.

Other differences are the Blendtec EZ600 has a weaker 3.0 peak horsepower motor and no programmable blending programs.

The EZ600 comes with a 1 year manufacturer warranty versus a 3 year warranty for the 885 & 895 Stealth models.

Overall, the EZ600 is a powerful blender but with less features. It would be a good choice for restaurants or bars that don’t do a high volume of blended drinks daily and aren’t concerned with extra noise.

Common Questions

How easy it is to clean ?

This blender meets NSF standards and is easy to clean. Proper cleaning and maintenance of your blender is the key for durability. They’re also particularly important for the quality of your drinks.

Cleaning should be systematically done and classified into care for your jar and for your blender, both immediately after use and long-term sanitation.

First, for your jar, add 1 cup of hot water and a drop of liquid dish soap after each use. Then either use the clean button or press pulse for 5 seconds. Finally, rinse well.

As for long-term sanitation, fill the jar with hot water then add 2 teaspoons of liquid chlorine bleach. Stir the mixture and let it stand for 5 minutes, then empty the mixture.

Second, for your blender, it’s pretty simple. Unplug your equipment then wipe all parts of the blender with a damp cloth. Don’t use any abrasives or sprayers on it.

If you have a specific smell or stain in your blender than doesn’t seem to disappear, look it up on Blendtec’s FAQ.

What is the Warranty ?

Blendtec is an American family business that stands behind their products. They have friendly customer service as well as an excellent warranty policy. This policy promises a 3-year warranty for both the motor as well as the parts.

For returns check with the retailer that you purchase from to clarify their return policy.

Hello, great review! We have the 89 stealth for our shop and we love it. Do you think the single cup adapter will work on the base of the 825 ?

Technically Blendtec said that the single serve micronizer (aka Nitro Blending System) is designed for the 895 Stealth blender I think it would fit would because the 895 stealth blender is compatible with all the other Blendtec jars so the 825 should probably work. I would confirm with Blendtec support before purchasing just in case it voids warranty on a blender.
